Gardens and Nursery

Our gardens at Shorelands Barn used to be open to visitors, along with our plant nursery, coffee shop, art gallery and gift shop. Ben started Blacksmiths Cottage Nursery in 1998, then focused solely on ornamental cottage garden perennials and woodland plants. The nursery grew over the years, becoming an RHS Gold Medal winning nursery for its displays at RHS shows.

Although the gardens and nursery are no longer open to the public, we do still grow a variety of ornamental plants, which we sometimes have available for sale at events. We also have group visits and conferences at Shorelands where visitors can enjoy the gardens.

We have relandscaped some of the main garden in the past year and are currently replanting a lot of the beds. We hope in 2027 to hold a garden open day so visitors can see the changes we have made.
